Howard Community College is seeking a part-time Evening Counselor to provide individual personal counseling, career counseling, and job assistance to students and community clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide proactive, multi-dimensional career counseling and career assessment programs for HCC students and community clients.
  • Offer short-term personal counseling to HCC students, referring those needing long-term counseling to appropriate community services.
  • Assist with career infusion projects and act as a consultant to faculty in incorporating real-world work experiences into their curriculum.
  • Recommend career assessments, provide interpretations, and offer follow-up counseling to clients at the beginning of the career development process.
  • Assist students with resume writing, interview preparation, and job applications.
  • Track job placements and counseling contacts, handle crisis intervention, and provide personal counseling sessions as needed.
  • Develop community mental health provider linkages and establish a referral network for students needing additional support services.
  • Maintain counseling records and prepare monthly reports.
  • Participate in Academic Support, Counseling, and Career Services departmental events as needed.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in counseling, psychology, or a related field, with experience providing career counseling and job assistance.
  • Preference given to a counselor with personal counseling and crisis intervention skills, NCC or LPC certification, and/or eligibility for certification.
  • Experience working with diverse populations highly desirable.
