Job Title: Genetic Counselor

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Genetic Counselor to join our team at Johns Hopkins University. As a Genetic Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing genetic counseling to patients referred for a wide range of indications, including maternal age, abnormal screening results, and family history concerns.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare patients for counseling sessions by reviewing previous testing results and researching conditions of concern.
  • Coordinate testing, including chorionic villus sampling, amniocentesis, and carrier screening.
  • Communicate with maternal-fetal medicine physicians, other medical specialists, and referring obstetric providers.
  • Provide follow-up care by contacting patients and referring providers with test results and documentation of counseling sessions.
  • Participate in weekly conferences for case management and student education.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree from a graduate program accredited by the American Board of Genetic Counseling.
  • Seek and maintain certification as a genetic counselor from the ABGC within one year of hire date.
  • One-year genetic counseling experience, with experience in general pediatric or adult genetics clinic.
