Position: Lead Business Manager

S&K Sales Co., a family-owned Military Resale Broker, is seeking a Lead Business Manager. This role is essential for meeting the company's sales objectives and aligning with our manufacturers' offerings. The position involves overseeing a team of business managers and fostering robust relationships with senior management at our Exchange Retailers. The ideal candidate will possess strategic insight, a solid history in the consumer products sector, a drive for innovation, and a dedication to achieving exceptional outcomes. Strong leadership capabilities and the ability to cultivate excellent relationships are vital.

Key Responsibilities:

Account Management:

  • Meet sales targets and operational goals while representing the company professionally.
  • Formulate and execute strategic initiatives to enhance growth and profitability.
  • Conduct business and category assessments utilizing category management techniques to evaluate market trends, consumer insights, and competitive dynamics, identifying avenues for growth.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance metrics.
  • Manage distribution by assessing inventory levels, providing setup information, and ensuring orders are placed and delivered accurately.
  • Ensure pricing accuracy and monitor pricing strategies to align with manufacturer objectives.
  • Collaborate with field sales to establish realistic and achievable goals that meet manufacturer needs.
  • Compile communications to assist the field team in achieving established goals.
  • Approve and coordinate with accounting to ensure timely client billing.
  • Enhance job knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, and participation in professional organizations.

Team Leadership:

  • Provide direction, support, and mentorship to a team of business managers.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and offer constructive feedback to team members.
  • Monitor financial performance against budget and key performance indicators (KPIs), implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Understand client needs and ensure the team delivers high-quality solutions that meet or exceed expectations.
  • Act as the primary contact for client inquiries and feedback.
  • Encourage innovative thinking within the team to promote process improvements and operational excellence.
  • Identify training needs and assist in developing programs to enhance team skills.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support for team member development.
  • Serve as a liaison between the team and senior management, offering regular updates on performance and strategic initiatives.

Relationship Management:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers at Exchange retail headquarters, including buyers and merchandising managers.
  • Collaborate with retail partners to create joint business plans that drive mutual success.
  • Act as the primary contact for resolving issues with retail headquarters management.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to senior management with recommendations for resolution.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Business Manager within the military resale sector.
  • Strong strategic planning and analytical abilities, with a knack for translating market insights into actionable plans.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of influencing cross-functional teams and building strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, with a results-oriented approach and commitment to excellence.
