Job Description

Public Citizen is seeking a highly motivated and experienced campaign director to lead our efforts in advancing climate accountability for the fossil fuel industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in campaigns, organizing, and advocacy, with a proven track record of success in developing and executing strategic plans to achieve policy goals.

The Climate Program at Public Citizen is working to build a new front in the fight against climate change by pursuing criminal prosecution of the fossil fuel industry. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a talented campaigner to join a dynamic team and make a meaningful impact on the climate crisis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing campaign strategy, building and managing coalitions, and engaging with policymakers and the public to advance our goals. They will also be responsible for supervising staff, interns, and volunteers, and working collaboratively with other teams within Public Citizen.

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about climate justice, has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and is able to work independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute campaign strategy and tactics in consultation with the Climate Program director and other staff and partners.
  • Build and manage coalitions to advance our goals.
  • Engage with policymakers and the public to raise awareness about climate accountability and build support for our efforts.
  • Supervise staff, interns, and volunteers.
  • Work collaboratively with other teams within Public Citizen.
Qualifications
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience in campaigns, organizing, or advocacy.
  • Strong strategic thinking and oral and written communication abilities.
  • Outstanding people skills and ability to build relationships and engage volunteers and partners.
  • High energy, enthusiasm, persistence, and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of and experience in the climate accountability space is a plus.
