Job Title: Program Officer

The Climate and Clean Energy Equity Fund is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Program Officer to join our team. As a Program Officer, you will play a critical role in implementing our grantmaking strategy and working with grantee partners to build power and advance equitable climate policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement grantmaking strategies to support climate and clean energy equity initiatives.
  • Work with grantee partners to develop strategies to build power and advance equitable climate policies.
  • Contribute to the development of the annual grantmaking strategy and work with the Fund's Advisory Board.
  • Conduct research and analysis of emerging opportunities, the needs of the field, and alignment with allied funders.
  • Conduct research and due diligence on grantees and potential grantees.
  • Lead the implementation of the grantmaking strategy in select states.
  • Identify and coordinate state activities with allied funders, consultants, and national and state-level partners.
  • Cultivate relationships with organizations, state thought leaders, experts, grantee partners, and funders.
  • Communicate with and convene organizations, as needed, to facilitate strong partnerships between and among organizations.
  • Coordinate with the Fund's fiscal sponsor to maintain financial records and budgets.
  • Support fund development for the Equity Fund by cultivating relationships with funders, writing proposals, managing program and financial reporting, and other tasks as needed.
  • Develop and maintain high-level expertise on climate, energy, and environmental policy and politics in several states.
  • Partner with the Equity Fund's Policy Accelerator and Communications Accelerator programs in several states in the development, implementation, and refinement of state program strategies.
  • Travel to offsite meetings and other Equity Fund events.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience demonstrating the ability to perform the position's essential functions.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of professional experience in related fields, such as community organizing, racial and economic justice, climate change/clean energy policy or campaigns, and philanthropy.
  • Understanding of leading organizations and funders in the field.
  • Experience with campaign and strategy development.
  • Experience in the grantmaking process (either as a funder or applicant), program development, and fundraising.
  • Knowledge of 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) legal compliance is a plus.
  • Experience with fundraising and board management is a plus.
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 20% annually.

Compensation:

The base pay range for this role starts at $108,000-$136,000, based on our DC office location. Typically, new hires are hired into the middle portion of the range, enabling employee growth in the range over time. Actual placement in range is based on job-related skills and experience, as evaluated throughout the interview process. Pay ranges are adjusted based on cost of labor in each respective geographical market.
