Position Overview

The University of Minnesota invites applications for a full-time Post-Doctoral Associate position within the esteemed William I. Fine Theoretical Physics Institute (FTPI). This role involves collaboration with distinguished faculty members, including Professors Andrey Chubukov and Alex Kamenev, as well as opportunities to engage with Prof. Boris Shklovskii and other faculty in the School of Physics and Astronomy.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will undertake the following responsibilities:

1. **Research Activities (60%)**
- Conduct advanced research in theoretical condensed matter physics.
- Identify and prioritize unresolved scientific questions.
- Select and apply appropriate theoretical methodologies to address these inquiries.
- Derive or enhance theoretical methods as necessary and assess results for both internal consistency and alignment with experimental findings.

2. **Dissemination of Research (30%)**
- Effectively communicate research findings to the broader scientific community.
- Prepare and submit scholarly articles for publication in reputable scientific journals.
- Deliver seminar presentations at various academic institutions.
- Present research outcomes at national and international conferences.

3. **Continuous Learning (10%)**
- Stay updated with the latest advancements and methodologies in the field.
- Engage in reading relevant literature and participating in the condensed matter journal club.
- Attend seminars and conferences to enhance professional development.

Qualifications

Required:
- Ph.D. in physics or a closely related discipline by the start date of the appointment.

Preferred:
- Experience in theoretical condensed matter physics is highly desirable.
