Research Focus
The selected candidate will collaborate closely with Prof. Patrick Kelly, focusing on:
1. **Data Acquisition and Analysis**: Engaging in the collection and interpretation of observational data, utilizing advanced tools such as the Hubble Space Telescope and JWST.
2. **Project Involvement**: Participating in significant projects, including:
a. Analyzing individual stars and supernovae that are magnified by foreground cluster lenses.
b. Contributing to the commissioning and analysis of early observations from the Total-Coverage Ultra-fast Response to Binary-Mergers Observatory (TURBO).
c. Preparing for time-domain observations with the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope.
Key Responsibilities
The role encompasses a variety of tasks, including:
1. **Data Analysis** (75%):
Conducting detailed analysis of imaging data from HST and JWST, along with ground-based imaging reduction and interpretation.
2. **Results Communication** (15%):
Presenting findings in group meetings and conferences, engaging in collaboration meetings, and disseminating research outcomes through publications.
3. **Collaboration and Mentorship** (10%):
Overseeing and guiding undergraduate and graduate students, while advising the principal investigator on research methodologies and results interpretation.
Qualifications
Required:
- A Ph.D. in a relevant field with proven experience in data analysis.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with space-based imaging interpretation, gravitational lensing, and transient astronomy.
