Job Overview

The University of Minnesota is seeking to fill 1 to 2 positions for postdoctoral associates focused on the engineering of optical properties in organic semiconductor materials. This role will involve working on a collaborative project aimed at understanding and manipulating the optical behavior, including birefringence and polarization characteristics, of both crystalline and polycrystalline organic semiconductors.

Key Responsibilities

Postdoctoral scholars will engage in the following activities:
  1. Sample Preparation and Characterization (70%): Conducting experiments related to organic thin film and crystal growth, and performing structural characterization using techniques such as X-ray diffraction and ellipsometry.
  2. Data Analysis and Simulation (25%): Analyzing experimental data and simulating optical phenomena in anisotropic materials.
  3. Reporting (5%): Preparing comprehensive reports and presentations for project sponsors.

Qualifications

Required:
- Ph.D. in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Experience with organic semiconductor thin films and devices.

Preferred:
- Familiarity with the fabrication and characterization of organic semiconductor thin films and their application in light-emitting devices.
- Strong knowledge of the optical properties of organic semiconductors and the impact of molecular orientation.
- Experience with table-top optics and spectroscopy techniques.
