Overview:

Western Michigan University Homer Stryker, M.D. School of Medicine is seeking an accomplished Accounting and Financial Management Expert to join the finance department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of routine accounting duties, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial transactions. Key responsibilities include preparing bank deposits, reconciling subsidiary ledgers, and managing patient accounts receivable. Additionally, the incumbent will assist with vendor bills and employee expenses through the accounts payable/cash disbursement system.

Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile patient-related deposits and postings to subsidiary ledgers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Process other accounts receivable deposits, maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Scan explanation of benefits and enter information into EPIC, ensuring seamless data integration.
  • Work on accounts receivable projects and queues in EPIC, primarily focusing on aged account queues.
  • Verify patient insurance and third-party coverage information, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Review vendor bills and supporting documentation before submission, maintaining a high level of professionalism.
  • Provide coverage for the receiving docks as needed, showcasing adaptability and flexibility.
  • Assist with bank reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Contribute to other accounting projects, leveraging expertise and knowledge.
  • Be available to work occasional overtime on weekends or evenings to complete time-sensitive projects, demonstrating a commitment to excellence.
  • Stay up-to-date with new technology and policy/procedure revisions, ensuring continuous learning and growth.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree preferred, with a strong emphasis on personal computing systems and software packages such as Excel or other spreadsheet programs.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to operate automated standard office equipment, including multi-line phone systems, calculators, copiers, fax machines, and shredders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to meet assigned deadlines and prioritize tasks.
  • Able to interpret, comprehend, and transmit complicated and detailed instructions accurately, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to recognize priorities in organization of workflow, with a focus on efficiency and productivity.

Estimated Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
