POSITION SUMMARY

The Chief Financial Officer at SCORE is instrumental in enhancing the organization's mission and objectives by overseeing essential financial, accounting, grant management, and liquidity functions. This role demands a meticulous approach, ensuring the fiscal stability of the organization while adhering to all regulatory standards.

KEY FUNCTIONS

The CFO is responsible for a variety of critical initiatives throughout the fiscal year while also managing ongoing financial operations. Significant projects include collaborating with the Vice President of Finance and Operations on the annual budget formulation and coordinating the yearly external audit. Continuous duties encompass monitoring and reporting on budget variances, creating financial plans for grants, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, managing cash flow, and exploring enhancements to the financial and accounting processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Financial Management: Lead the annual budget process in partnership with the leadership team, ensuring comprehensive revenue analysis and input collection from various departments.
  • Reporting: Generate monthly financial statements and present detailed analyses, including variance reports and strategic recommendations to the Vice President of Finance and Operations.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to all financial policies and procedures, including cash management and expense reimbursements.
  • Audit Coordination: Supervise the annual audit, collaborating with external auditors and preparing necessary documentation.
  • Grant Oversight: Manage all aspects of grants and contracts, including budget development and financial reporting.
  • Cash Management: Oversee banking and investment accounts, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operational needs while optimizing returns.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and refine financial systems and procedures to enhance accuracy and compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A strong commitment to SCORE's mission and values.
  • A bachelor's degree in finance or accounting; CPA designation preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP and relevant state and federal regulations.
  • A minimum of five to seven years of experience in finance or accounting, preferably within a nonprofit context.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly.
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities with a focus on detail-oriented execution.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with proficiency in financial modeling.
  • Proficient in financial software, including Microsoft Office and QuickBooks.
