Overview

Galactic Advisors is in search of a visionary leader to develop a comprehensive finance function that will propel the company's expansion. As the Chief Financial Officer, you will be instrumental in shaping strategic decisions through accurate financial analysis and forecasting. This position involves supervising monthly financial accounting and reporting, instituting internal accounting controls, and spearheading critical strategic projects.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management:

  • Establish a bi-annual budgeting framework to support a continuous forecasting process, delivering ongoing insights into organizational performance.
  • Work closely with the executive team to formulate a data strategy, develop a dashboard with real-time metrics, and utilize customer insights to drive actionable strategies.
  • Evaluate actual performance against projections to effectively communicate any variances.
  • Foster collaborative relationships across departments to ensure alignment on resource distribution for revenue and profitability objectives.
  • Enhance monthly key performance indicators, financial reports, and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Conduct thorough monthly revenue and expense evaluations to guarantee accuracy and identify emerging trends.
  • Select and deploy appropriate financial and operational technologies.

Accounting Oversight:

  • Supervise daily accounting functions and month-end closing activities to ensure prompt financial reporting.
  • Manage general accounting responsibilities, including revenue recognition and accounts receivable/payable.
  • Implement innovative systems to improve accounting efficiency and reporting standards.
  • Collaborate with auditors to facilitate successful annual audits.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in startups, financial planning and analysis, or accounting.
  • Expertise in US GAAP for private companies.
  • Experience within a private equity or venture capital context.
  • Strong financial modeling capabilities with a thorough understanding of business operations.
  • Familiarity with financial operations technology and private company transactions.

Compensation Package:

$175,000 to $220,000 base salary, plus performance-based bonuses and equity options.
