Job Overview:

This role is eligible for our Nursing Support Incentive Program, which includes a total of $5,000 distributed over a three-year commitment.

Position Details:
The position involves a commitment of 36 hours per week with a rotating schedule that includes both day and night shifts (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, 3:00 PM - 7:30 PM). The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) consists of 20 beds and is part of a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center.

Our dedicated team provides comprehensive care for complex pediatric medical and surgical cases through a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach. The patient population encompasses a variety of specialties, including but not limited to trauma, general surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, ENT, oncology, solid organ transplants, burns, and various medical specialties. We emphasize a family-centered care environment, with eight beds specifically designated for pediatric cardiac patients.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Clinical Support Technician, you will undertake a dual role that includes responsibilities of both a Nursing Assistant and a Health Unit Coordinator. Your duties will encompass:

  • Assisting healthcare professionals during routine examinations and procedures, including the procurement of necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Monitoring patient care documentation, noting any significant changes in patient conditions, and promptly reporting to a registered nurse or physician.
  • Performing a variety of clerical tasks such as organizing and prioritizing workload, greeting and directing visitors, and maintaining medical records.
  • Providing clinical support by ensuring cleanliness in the work area, maintaining office equipment, and assisting in the orientation of new staff and students.
  • Delivering direct personal care to patients as outlined in their care plans, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and measuring vital signs.
  • Reinforcing educational information provided to patients by healthcare providers and documenting patient understanding.

Qualifications:
Education:
- High School diploma or GED required.

Licensure/Certification:
- Must be listed as a Nurse Aide I Registry with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification is required.

Experience:
- One year of clerical or customer service experience, along with six months of related nursing assistant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and training.

Skills:
- Proficiency in verbal and written English is essential. Ability to develop computer skills if not already competent.
