Position Overview

This role is available in any of Block's office locations and allows for full-time remote work.

The Finance & Strategy team is dedicated to enhancing strategic, financial, and operational decision-making throughout the organization. Our core principle is trust; we cultivate it by simplifying complexities and providing clear, accurate analyses. At Block, we believe that innovative ideas can emerge from anywhere, and we encourage you to collaborate, form informed opinions, and communicate effectively with decision-makers and the executive team.

We are seeking a Finance & Strategy Senior Analyst, who will report to the Corporate Finance & Strategy Manager. This role will engage with Block's diverse business units and support the Finance teams within the organization. You will work closely with other Finance & Strategy team members to gain a comprehensive understanding of the overall business and various operating models. Insights will be generated through regular cross-functional communication and collaboration with our partners, assessing how each of Block's business units could function as independent entities.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to regular management and Board of Directors reporting, including P&L summaries, closing presentations, and business performance metrics.
  • Assist in the standardization of data and processes.
  • Lead Finance & Strategy transformation initiatives, including P&L reporting, management analytics, and dashboards utilizing SQL and visualization tools like Tableau to foster trust and insights.
  • Establish and nurture key relationships across Finance & Strategy, Business Transformation, and other functional areas within Block.
  • Communicate company-wide best practices that enhance efficiency for both finance team members and business partners.
  • Facilitate the implementation and adoption of new tools and capabilities within Finance & Strategy.
Qualifications

You Should Have:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Corporate Strategy/FP&A, or at a prestigious Investment Banking or Consulting firm, particularly in a high-growth environment with complex modeling and analysis.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in analytics tools (Hyperion/Oracle/SAP), SQL, and BI tools such as Tableau and Looker.
  • Strong analytical abilities and advanced skills in financial modeling (be prepared for a SQL-based case study) along with effective communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
  • A high level of intellectual curiosity, a results-oriented mindset, and a keen interest in problem-solving.
  • Exceptional judgment and maturity, with the ability to work independently and collaborate with team members at all levels.
  • A basic understanding of the payments industry and a commitment to Block's mission of Economic Empowerment.
