Our foundational teams - including People, Finance, Legal, Hardware, Information Security, and Platform Infrastructure Engineering - provide essential support and guidance at the corporate level. They collaborate across business units and globally, transcending time zones and disciplines to create inclusive policies, forecast financials, offer legal advice, protect systems, and nurture innovative initiatives. Every challenge presents opportunities, and we value diverse perspectives to recognize them all. Bring yours to Block.

Position Overview

This role is flexible, allowing for work from any of Block's office locations or remotely.

The Finance & Strategy team is dedicated to enhancing strategic, financial, and operational decision-making throughout the organization. Our core principle is trust; we establish it by simplifying complexities and providing clear, accurate analyses. Business partners value our insights and rely on us to assist in addressing challenging issues across the organization. At Block, we believe that innovative ideas can emerge from anywhere, and we encourage you to collaborate, form informed opinions, and present your insights to decision-makers and the executive team.

We are seeking a Finance & Strategy Senior Analyst, who will report to the Corporate Finance & Strategy Manager. This role will engage with Block's diverse business units and support the Finance teams within the organization. You will work closely with other Finance & Strategy team members to gain a comprehensive understanding of the business landscape and various operational models. Insights will be generated through regular cross-functional communication and collaboration with our partners, determining how each of Block's business units could function as independent entities.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to regular management and Board of Directors reporting, including P&L summaries, closing presentations, and business performance metrics.
  • Assist in standardizing data and processes.
  • Lead Finance & Strategy transformation initiatives, focusing on P&L reporting, management analytics, and dashboards utilizing SQL and visualization tools like Tableau to foster trust and insights.
  • Establish and nurture key relationships across Finance & Strategy, Business Transformation, and other functional areas within Block.
  • Communicate company-wide best practices that enhance efficiencies for finance team members and business partners.
  • Facilitate the implementation and adoption of new tools and capabilities within Finance & Strategy.
Qualifications

You Should Have:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Corporate Strategy/FP&A, or in a prestigious Investment Banking or Consulting firm, particularly in a high-growth environment involving complex modeling and analysis.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with analytics tools (Hyperion/Oracle/SAP), SQL, and BI tools such as Tableau and Looker.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and advanced skills in financial modeling (be prepared for a SQL-based case study) along with effective communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • A high degree of intellectual curiosity, a results-oriented mindset, and a strong interest in problem-solving.
  • Exceptional judgment and maturity, with the ability to work independently and collaborate with team members at all levels.
  • A basic understanding of the payments industry and a commitment to Block's mission of Economic Empowerment.
