Position Overview:

The Heavy Equipment Operator - Transmission Specialist is an entry-level role focused on the construction, upkeep, and repair of electrical transmission infrastructures.

This position may involve working at multiple sites and could require travel to different states based on client needs.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform tasks safely while engaging in new construction, maintenance, or repair of both energized and de-energized transmission systems.

- String overhead wiring.

- Set poles and anchors.

- Assist in the installation of transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear.

- Help replace fuses in transformers and troubleshoot faulted circuits and systems.

- Regularly work with high voltage systems, necessitating skill and caution to ensure safety.

- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in optimal condition.

- Perform any additional tasks as required to fulfill job responsibilities.

Additional Qualifications:

Position Requirements:
- Capable of performing demanding physical labor.

- Familiar with the proper use of company communication devices.

- Understand the operation of heavy machinery.

- Knowledgeable in basic rigging, hand lines, and knot tying techniques.

- Proficient in the use and maintenance of hand tools.

- Able to follow instructions accurately.

- Willing to learn fundamental concepts related to materials used in line work.

- Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License.

- Able to lift over 50 lbs.

- Comfortable working outdoors, often in adverse weather conditions.

- Willing to work overtime as needed.

The employee frequently stands, walks, uses hands to handle and feel, and reaches with arms.


Work Environment:


While executing the responsibilities of this job, the employee is often exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations. The employee may occasionally encounter various extreme conditions at construction sites, where noise levels can be high. This role is performed in outdoor weather conditions.
