Job Summary

Tennant Company is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our industrial equipment and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair problems on industrial production and facility-related equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks, including PM inspections and records management.
  • Rebuild, overhaul, and repair automated CNC machine tools, aligning and making precision adjustments as needed.
  • Dispose of hazardous waste in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Execute general maintenance work orders and provide support to outside contractor resources.
  • Participate in and support continuous improvement activities, including Kaizen initiatives.
  • Perform housekeeping and 5S tasks to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • 3 years of experience in industrial automated systems maintenance, metal fabrication equipment maintenance, or equipment repair and maintenance.
  • OR
  • 2-year technical school degree from an accredited school with a certificate in one of the following trades: industrial maintenance, automated industrial systems, industrial pneumatic/electronic controls, HVAC, plumbing, electricity, welding, fluid power, or mechanics.
  • AND
  • Successfully completed formal training on automated equipment and/or facilities-related tools and automated equipment (CNC lathes and mills).
  • If deemed necessary, must obtain a Special Engineer State of Minnesota Low Pressure Boiler License.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience and general understanding of Lean principles in a maintenance setting.
  • Tennant Company is willing to train internal candidates who possess related skill sets and are willing to seek external training.
Required Skills
  • Strong communication skills, ability to interpret oral and written instructions for work direction.
  • Capable of working with equipment operators to determine the nature and extent of mechanical problems and failures.
  • Must be able to read, write, add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Print reading and experience with electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Must be self-directed, able to work independently and in a group environment.
  • Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks.
Physical Demands
  • Frequent use of ladders, personal lifts at heights of up to 35 feet, and operation of various maintenance shop tools and equipment.
  • Lifting of supplies and materials up to 40 pounds.
Interpersonal and Behavioral Skills
  • Ability to problem-solve.
  • Ability to concentrate on tasks, make decisions, and work calmly and effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Willingness to be flexible with time and adjust to a changing work environment.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally.
  • Ability to work independently, organize and accurately prioritize work, be detail-oriented, understand when urgency is required, and use good judgment in varied situations.
Salary Information

$35 - $40 / hr
