Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health Specialist to join our team at Synerfac. As an Industrial Hygienist/Environmental Scientist, you will play a critical role in supporting our environmental consulting activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct surveys of commercial, residential, and other buildings to identify hazardous materials, including asbestos, lead paint, and PCBs.
  • Work at heights, on roofs, ladders, and in crawlspaces to collect samples and conduct assessments.
  • Monitor asbestos abatement activities to ensure compliance with EPA, OSHA, and AHERA regulations.
  • Collect and analyze samples to determine asbestos, lead, or mold content.
  • Assist in preparing abatement design and specifications, as well as supporting sampling efforts for soil and groundwater.
  • Contribute to report writing, including drafting, tables, figures, and data summary tables.
  • Travel frequently throughout Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania to conduct site visits and assessments.
  • Develop and maintain proficiency in computer software, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences, Studies, or a relevant discipline.
  • Maryland Asbestos Building Inspector certificate highly preferred.
  • MD Lead Risk Assessor/Inspector license highly preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in asbestos, lead, and mold surveys, indoor air quality investigations, and soil/groundwater studies.
  • Knowledge of EPA and ASTM guidance documents covering investigation, remediation, and O&M.
  • Familiarity with DE/PA/MD environmental regulations.
  • AutoCAD knowledge is a plus.
  • Strong technical writing skills and excellent communication skills to interface with regulatory officials and customers.
