Key Responsibilities:

The Quality Control Manager is tasked with identifying and reporting any deficiencies or practices that may jeopardize food safety, quality, and defense to the Quality Assurance Manager and Senior Management promptly, enabling timely corrective measures.

This role requires active participation in teams focused on HACCP, Product Development, Approved Suppliers, Food Defense, Crisis Management, and Food Fraud.

Regular presence on the production floor is essential for inspecting product quality and investigating production processes.

Ensures compliance with company standards and food regulatory requirements, including FDA, SOP, SSOP, GMP, and HACCP guidelines.

Efficient time management is crucial for maintaining policies and quality assurance programs within the manufacturing facility.

Responsible for verifying that all new equipment and utensils are designed for effective cleaning and maintenance.

Supervises adherence to production conditions, specifications, process controls, and tracking systems in line with established policies and procedures.

Conducts internal audits to ensure compliance and quality standards.

Reviews existing production control forms and audits to confirm they meet all program requirements.

Collaborates closely with manufacturing and team members to ensure that all plant activities and equipment installations comply with food safety, quality, and sanitation standards.

Maintains processing instructions related to product quality and safety, ensuring that all documentation is up-to-date.

Participates in the approval process for all finished products, packaging, and suppliers.

Monitors programs aimed at controlling foreign materials.

Reviews Letters of Guarantee, Specifications, and Certificates of Analysis for all incoming ingredients prior to their use.

Analyzes lab results for finished products and updates client profiles accordingly.

Oversees and schedules Quality and Sanitation staff to ensure adequate coverage.

Engages in the verification and review of the HACCP program, including all documentation related to critical control points, product inspections, and facility cleanliness.

Responsible for hiring, training, and evaluating Quality Control Technicians and Sanitation personnel.

Facilitates ongoing training for employees regarding their responsibilities related to quality and food safety.

Annual training topics include HACCP, allergen control, foreign material control, chemical control, GMP, food security, sanitation, and commitment to quality.

Must be capable of covering all Quality Control positions and assisting in plant operations as needed.

Conducts monitoring activities throughout all stages of product production.

Updates the Hold Log for non-conforming products and assists in determining dispositions for held products.

Monitors and reviews monthly audits conducted by Quality Control Technicians.

Participates in meetings and presents findings as required.

Investigates discrepancies, non-conforming products, and implements corrective actions.

Submits and reviews work orders resulting from audits and follows up on their completion.

Manages the collection of environmental samples and coordinates third-party testing as scheduled.

Responsible for ordering department consumables.

Reviews timecards and approves leave requests for Quality Control Technicians and Sanitation staff.

Undertakes special tasks as assigned.

The Quality Control Manager plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with food regulatory requirements and reporting any deficiencies that could affect food safety and quality.

This position oversees the Quality Control function, ensuring strict adherence to all product and process quality standards.

Significant time will be spent in a production environment, collaborating with production personnel and operating various types of production equipment.

Qualifications:

B.S. in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field is preferred.

3-5 years of supervisory experience in food manufacturing is preferred.

3-4 years of quality experience is preferred.

HACCP certification is preferred.

Advanced computer skills and strong written and verbal communication abilities are required.

In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations is preferred.

Understanding of sanitation processes is essential.

Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines is crucial.

Essential Skills:

Excellent communication, critical thinking, self-motivation, organization, and the ability to work independently are key to success in this role.

Must be able to assess production practices, provide recommendations to management, and ensure compliance with established programs.

Success in this position requires effective supervision of staff to enforce food safety and GMP regulations.

Adaptability to constant changes and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Willingness to rotate between shifts for coverage, training, and evaluations is necessary.
