Key Responsibilities:

The Quality Control Manager at Multipack West plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and quality of food products. This position involves reporting any deficiencies or practices that may jeopardize food safety, quality, and defense to the Quality Assurance Manager and senior management promptly, enabling timely corrective actions.

The role requires active participation in various teams, including HACCP, Product Development, Approved Supplier, Food Defense, Recall, Crisis Management, and Food Fraud Teams.

Regular inspections on the production floor are essential to assess the quality of items produced and to investigate any production issues.

Ensuring compliance with company standards and food regulatory requirements, including FDA, SOP, SSOP, GMP, and HACCP guidelines, is a fundamental duty.

Efficient use of time is crucial for maintaining policies and quality assurance programs within the manufacturing environment.

The manager must verify that all new equipment and utensils are designed for cleanliness and proper maintenance.

Supervision of production conditions, specifications, process controls, and tracking controls is necessary to ensure adherence to current policies and procedures.

Conducting internal audits and verifying existing production control forms is part of the responsibilities to ensure all program requirements are met.

Collaboration with manufacturing and team members is vital to ensure that plant activities and equipment installations meet food safety, quality, and sanitation standards.

Maintaining processing instructions related to product quality and safety, including updating forms to reflect current revisions, is essential.

Reviewing and approving all finished products, packaging, and suppliers is a key aspect of the role.

Monitoring the program designed to control foreign materials and reviewing documentation for incoming ingredients is also required.

Lab results for finished products must be reviewed, and product releases added to client profiles.

Supervision and scheduling of Quality and Sanitation floor staff ensure adequate coverage.

Participation in the verification and review of the HACCP program, including documentation of critical control points, lot numbers, product inspections, and facility cleaning, is necessary.

Employee management, including hiring, training, and evaluations for Quality Control Technicians and Sanitation personnel, is a significant responsibility.

Ongoing training of employees regarding their responsibilities related to quality and food safety is essential, covering topics such as HACCP, allergen control, and good manufacturing practices.

The Quality Control Manager must be capable of covering all Quality Control positions and assisting in plant operations as needed.

Monitoring activities throughout all stages of product production is crucial.

Updating the Hold Log for non-conforming products and providing dispositions for held products is part of the role.

Monthly audits conducted by Quality Control Technicians must be monitored and reviewed.

Participation in meetings and investigations of discrepancies and non-conforming products is expected.

Management of environmental swabs, air plate testing, and potable water samples for third-party testing is required.

Ordering department consumables and reviewing timecards for Quality Control Technicians and Sanitation personnel is also part of the responsibilities.

Special tasks may be assigned as needed.

The Quality Control Manager ensures compliance with food regulatory requirements and oversees the Quality Control function to maintain strict adherence to product and process quality standards.

This position requires significant time spent in a production environment, working closely with production personnel and various types of equipment.

Qualifications:

A B.S. in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field is preferred, along with 3-5 years of supervisory experience in food manufacturing and 3-4 years of quality experience.

HACCP certification is preferred, and advanced computer skills along with strong written and oral communication abilities are required.

A solid understanding of food safety regulations and sanitation processes is essential.

The ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines is crucial for success in this role.

Essential Skills:

Excellent communication, critical thinking, self-motivation, organization, and the ability to work independently are key skills necessary for success.

The ability to assess production practices, provide recommendations, and ensure compliance with established programs is vital.

Success in this position requires effective supervision of staff to enforce food safety and GMP rules, adaptability to constant changes, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Flexibility to rotate between shifts for coverage, training, and evaluations is also required.
