Position Summary:

The Head of Strategic Innovation will play a pivotal role in identifying, assessing, and prioritizing innovation initiatives that align with our long-term growth objectives. This position involves managing and executing projects that support Unum's strategic vision, collaborating closely with senior leadership and management teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the formulation of Unum's strategic direction by analyzing complex business challenges and proposing actionable solutions.
  • Ensure that innovation efforts are in harmony with Unum's overarching strategy.
  • Oversee strategic projects, collaborating with various departments to identify challenges and maintain process integrity.
  • Evaluate potential revenue and profit implications of innovative ideas, building business cases and tracking progress towards value realization.
  • Establish and nurture an internal network to validate concepts and facilitate the sharing of ideas while gaining insights into operational priorities.
  • Prepare presentations for senior leadership and the Board of Directors as required.

Market and Innovation Focus:

  • Define business opportunities for Unum within the broader U.S. market landscape.
  • Identify and prioritize new market and partnership opportunities through thorough competitive analysis and understanding of macro trends.
  • Lead sessions to discover and prioritize innovation initiatives.
  • Develop materials to support the innovation process, ensuring timely decision-making.
  • Collaborate with delivery teams to maintain alignment with ongoing projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
  • Finance experience is advantageous.
  • 5+ years of experience in business strategy, corporate finance, or consulting.
  • Ability to engage with all organizational levels, from executives to operational staff.
  • Strong team player with excellent multitasking abilities in a dynamic environment.
  • Intellectually curious with a capacity to grasp new business concepts and technologies.
  • Exceptional analytical, modeling, and presentation skills.
  • Superior project management capabilities and collaborative spirit.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.

The salary range for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience and location. Unum also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including healthcare, insurance, and retirement plans, subject to the terms of individual plans.
