Job Summary

The Device Coordinator Cardiac Arrhythmia is responsible for coordinating the operations of the Cardiac Arrhythmia Device Clinic at a local and regional level. This includes supervising clinical support staff, coordinating and assisting in departmental daily operations, and delivering treatment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing and experience in managing device databases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct activities of assigned personnel, making recommendations regarding hiring, salary adjustments, and disciplinary actions.
  • Develop and maintain standards of care for patients with Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices (CIED).
  • Update, maintain, and manage patient device database using current and appropriate software.
  • Coordinate day-to-day patient flow in the Cardiac Arrhythmia Device Clinic, adjusting schedules and patient appointments as needed.
  • Identify problems and recommend corrective action, evaluating patient complaints and symptoms and consulting physicians as necessary.
  • Coordinate patient throughput within the Device Clinic.
  • Oversee patient billing, scheduling, and report generation for the pacemaker/defibrillator clinic.
  • Plan, conduct, implement, and review educational programs for staff, patients, and family members regarding CIED function and monitoring.
  • Monitor device performance and safety guidelines, responding to safety alerts in a timely manner.
  • Serve as a resource to other nursing and clinical personnel, providing professional advice and guidance in the management of arrhythmia and electrophysiology health care.
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments by reviewing relevant literature and attending seminars and conferences.
  • Collaborate with research coordinators on research proposals for inpatient and outpatient clinical drug and device trials.
  • Monitor patient outcomes data and determine policy and guideline recommendations based on data.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Nursing required.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3-4 years of progressively more responsible job-related experience required.
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in the District of Columbia required.
  • International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) certification within 2 years preferred.
