Overview of the Role

Department Insights

Nurses in the Cardiac Catheterization unit deliver exceptional care to both outpatient and inpatient populations undergoing advanced cardiac interventions guided by imaging technology. This specialized area features 11 catheterization labs along with pre- and post-procedure holding zones. Annually, over 19,000 interventional heart procedures, including percutaneous valve repairs and more than 1,800 open-heart surgeries, are conducted. MedStar Health is recognized nationally for its outstanding cardiac catheterization program.

Core Responsibilities

As a Clinical Nurse, you will provide expert nursing care to patients and their families, addressing a spectrum of needs from simple to highly intricate. You will assess current and potential complex issues within specific patient demographics and critically evaluate trends and changes in patient conditions, planning suitable interventions either directly or through collaboration with fellow nurses.

Qualifications

  • ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited nursing institution is required.
  • Previous clinical nursing experience is preferred.
  • Active RN License and Basic Life Support certification for healthcare providers are required.
