Clinical Research Psychologist

The role is situated within the Behavioral Science Division of the National Center for PTSD, affiliated with the VA Boston Healthcare System.
The selected candidate will engage in scientific research and play a pivotal role in both the creation and dissemination of knowledge that supports the research and educational objectives of the National Center for PTSD.
The primary aim is to enhance the prevention, comprehension, and treatment of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and related effects of traumatic stress.
Key Responsibilities:This position emphasizes two interconnected domains:
- Development, validation, and implementation of trauma-informed assessment instruments.
- Enhancement of patient access to care for those experiencing PTSD.
- Formulates grant proposals and oversees requests for funding applications from both internal and external sources.
- Defines research projects, establishes goals and objectives, and collaborates with relevant partners.
- Acts as Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator on grants concerning traumatic stress and PTSD.
- Ensures adherence to all research regulatory standards.
- Prepares and submits necessary reports in line with local research and funding agency requirements.
- Oversees laboratory operations and supervises research personnel, ensuring all staff are certified and qualified.
- Manages data collection processes and maintains databases.
- Conducts advanced data analyses utilizing statistical software such as SPSS, R, SAS, and MPlus.
- Authors and submits articles for publication in scientific journals.
- Delivers presentations at professional conferences and events.
- Participates in local or national research committees, including editorial boards and grant review panels.
- Maintains a faculty position at Boston University School of Medicine and provides multidisciplinary supervision as necessary.
- Offers clinical supervision to psychology trainees within the PTSD Clinical Team.
- May engage in direct clinical care within the PTSD Clinical Team framework.
- May serve on various committees or task forces as requested.
- Actively participates in professional organizations at local, state, or national levels, taking on leadership roles as appropriate.
- Attends relevant meetings within the Psychology and Research Service.
Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
Qualifications:Applicants must be U.S. citizens and meet the educational and licensure requirements for the position. A doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited program is required, along with completion of an accredited internship.
All candidates must demonstrate proficiency in written and spoken English and may be subject to a background investigation.
Physical Requirements:The role necessitates good health, with the ability to perform light to moderate physical activities and sit for extended periods.
