Position Overview:

The role is situated within the Behavioral Science Division of the National Center for PTSD, contributing to the mission of advancing knowledge in the field of psychological trauma.

Key Responsibilities:

The incumbent will engage in scientific research aimed at enhancing the understanding and treatment of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and related traumatic stress conditions. This position emphasizes two main areas:

  • Development and validation of trauma-informed assessment instruments.
  • Enhancing patient access to care for those suffering from PTSD.
Research Duties (80% of time):
  • Formulate grant proposals and track funding opportunities from various sources.
  • Define research projects, establish objectives, and develop methodologies for studies.
  • Act as Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator on PTSD-related grants.
  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements associated with research.
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive reports in line with local and federal guidelines.
  • Oversee laboratory operations and manage research personnel, ensuring proper certification and training.
  • Conduct data collection and manage databases effectively.
  • Perform advanced data analyses utilizing statistical software such as SPSS, R, SAS, and MPlus.
  • Publish research findings in academic journals and present at professional conferences.
  • Participate in local and national research committees and editorial boards.
Academic and Clinical Responsibilities (15% of time):
  • Hold a faculty position at an affiliated medical school, providing multidisciplinary supervision.
  • Offer clinical supervision to psychology trainees and may engage in direct clinical care.
Additional Responsibilities (5% of time):
  • Contribute to committees or task forces at various organizational levels as required.
  • Engage actively in professional organizations, taking on leadership roles when appropriate.
  • Attend relevant meetings to stay updated on psychology and research developments.
Work Schedule:

Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Qualifications:

Applicants must be U.S. citizens and meet the educational and licensure requirements as outlined in the position description. Proficiency in English is mandatory.

Physical Requirements:

The role requires good health, the ability to perform light to moderate physical activities, and the capacity to engage in sedentary work for extended periods.

Participation in health-related programs, including vaccinations, is a requirement for all personnel.
