Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Community Standards will play a pivotal role in maintaining a safe and inclusive campus environment at Endicott College. This position will work closely with the Associate Dean of Students to ensure that students adhere to the Student Code of Conduct, while also fostering a culture of academic success, personal growth, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Student Conduct Administration
    • Prepare and adjudicate student conduct cases regarding violations of the Student Conduct Code.
    • Coordinate and provide student care and behavioral intervention in a timely, efficient, and equitable manner.
    • Conduct investigations regarding alleged violations of College policy.
    • Oversee modifications to the Student Handbook as they pertain to the conduct process and the Student Code of Conduct.
    • Assist the Associate Dean of Students in completing a statistical analysis of all student conduct trends for reporting and compliance purposes.
    • Provide leadership, training, feedback, and direction to the Residence Life hearing officers on all issues related to community standards and conduct.
  • Community Development and Outreach
    • Oversee and coordinate lower-risk CARE case management.
    • Provide outreach and support to students related to emotional and behavioral concerns.
  • Educational Initiatives
    • Oversee the educational initiatives of the Student Conduct process, to include:
    • Create and oversee a comprehensive collection of resources, partnerships, classes, assignments, and workshops as possibilities for mandated interventions connected to the student conduct process.
    • Work in collaboration with campus partners to create and facilitate preventative and social norming programming around alcohol culture on campus.
    • Develop, recommend, and implement proactive processes, systems, and modes of delivery for educational programs to promote good citizenship and civic engagement among the student body.
    • Develop and implement new and innovative educational, prevention, and intervention programming relative to the needs of students.
    • Develops and presents appropriate education programs and activities for the campus community; provides crisis support, case management, information, and referral regarding student concerns.
  • Administrative Responsibilities

    • Serves on organizational, departmental, and campus committees as needed and required; serves as liaison between students and college personnel in a fair and impartial manner regarding student rights and responsibilities.
    • Assists in responding to off-campus disruptions reported by local authorities.
    • Serve as an investigator for student cases.
    • Assist and support major Student Affairs and large-scale events such as Orientation, Move-In, and Commencement.
    • Perform other duties as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A Master's degree in a related field, required.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years' experience as a hearing officer with broad skills as an educator within a higher education context.
  • Knowledge of higher education principles, practices, and procedures and best practices in student affairs.
  • Experience in managing and deescalating crisis situations.
  • Expertise in training and Alcohol and other Drug education is desirable.
  • A broad knowledge of student development theory, issues, and trends in the field.
  • Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
