About the Position:

The Director of Executive Communications at InsideHigherEd plays a pivotal role in crafting and disseminating critical communications for top university leadership. This position involves collaborating closely with campus leaders and colleagues in Strategic Communications to develop speeches, presentations, notes, and other communications that reflect the values and diversity of InsideHigherEd. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in internal or executive communications within a complex organization and demonstrated experience collaborating with executives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop written messages for university leadership, ensuring clarity and impact.
  • Work effectively with executives to deliver clear and impactful communications, leveraging strong interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborate with high-level academic and administrative leadership to drive strategic communications initiatives.
  • Translate complex information into readable and understandable messages, utilizing strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Research and organize data to create memorable speeches, presentations, and other communications materials.
  • Manage multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously, prioritizing deadlines and delivering high-quality results.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 6-8 years of experience in internal or executive communications, with a proven track record of success.
  • Experience working in a complex global environment, with a strong understanding of diverse cultural and organizational contexts.
  • Strong knowledge of executive communications practices, including message development, speechwriting, and presentation design.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a demonstrated ability to promote these values in communications efforts.
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in History, Writing, Social Sciences, Education, International Relations, or Business, with a strong academic record.
