POSITION SUMMARY:


Under the guidance of the Executive Director of Clinical Services, this role entails the continuous oversight of all personnel engaged in Social Services and therapeutic roles.

The supervisor will manage case load distributions, program assignments, and the execution of departmental services.

Delivering a comprehensive array of therapeutic interventions for patients addressing psychiatric challenges, including crisis management, individual and family therapy, group therapy, and psycho-educational support.

A robust understanding of community resources and age-specific interventions for the patient demographic served is essential.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
Facilitates the integration of social services programs with other organizational initiatives in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.

Conducts in-service training sessions for social service personnel and other staff as required.

Monitors and assesses clinical consultations performed by staff to guarantee effective service delivery.

Offers direction to staff to foster continuous improvement in all facets of patient care.


Executes psychosocial evaluations to document patient history and identify initial treatment focus areas through interviews with patients and their families.


Administers group and family-oriented therapies while conducting educational and didactic sessions for patients and their families utilizing various professional treatment modalities.

Responsible for scheduling and staffing to ensure sufficient coverage.


Creates and coordinates individualized discharge plans for patients by utilizing treatment team insights and written documentation to ascertain aftercare requirements.


Participates in regular treatment team meetings to contribute social work insights to comprehensive patient case management by reviewing progress notes and communicating any relevant legal requirements for case management with the interdisciplinary team.

Maintains current knowledge of referral sources and interacts effectively with patients, colleagues, and other staff regarding suitable treatment options.


Establishes and sustains productive working relationships with physicians, nursing staff, community health professionals, and other departments within the organization.

Demonstrates proficiency in assessing clients' crises and clinical indicators.


Prepares timely written reports of assessment outcomes, including recommendations for care levels and treatment necessities.

Implements appropriate interventions during assessments and crisis situations involving clients, families, and other professional staff.


Evaluates the necessity for involuntary hospitalization and coordinates with the county crisis team, law enforcement, or Legal 2000 personnel as required to ensure client and public safety.

Maintains awareness of developmental tasks and sociological theories relevant to pertinent age groups. Keeps informed about legal standards related to EMTALA/COBRA and abuse/neglect reporting.

Stays updated on the organization's programs and services.

Engages in activities that promote professional growth and development.

Performs additional related duties as assigned.

Adheres to the organization's ethical standards and customer service expectations.

Qualifications

Education/Certification

A Master's degree in behavioral science or a mental health-related field is required.

  • A minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in an inpatient setting is preferred.
Licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Nevada is preferred.

Comfort and familiarity with issues related to mental health diagnoses, substance use disorders, co-occurring conditions, and trauma history are essential.

Current CPR certification

CPI certification obtained within 60 days of hire

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Preferred clinical, supervisory, and administrative experience in both inpatient and outpatient mental health and chemical dependency settings;
  • General knowledge of psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment;
  • Experience in staff management, development, and supervision;
  • Proficiency in diagnosis, psychotherapy, and assessment-based treatment planning;
  • Maintains current knowledge of social, medical, and psychiatric services available in the community;
  • Experience with therapeutic limit-setting or an understanding of behavioral management modalities is beneficial;
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries.

Ability to communicate effectively with physicians regarding patients' social service needs.

Documentation adheres to current standards and policies.

Proficient in software and equipment (including Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel).

Exhibits strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.

Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills; legible handwriting.

Skills in teaching or assisting with daily living activities.

Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with individuals from various backgrounds and educational levels.

Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.

Exhibits good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.

Physical Requirements:
This position frequently requires the following physical activities:

  • Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and standing for extended periods.
  • Walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying objects from lower to higher positions or horizontally.
  • Expressing or exchanging ideas orally and potentially loudly, accurately, or quickly.
  • Meeting minimum hearing standards.
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently.
  • Meeting minimum visual acuity standards with or without correction.
  • While the worker may experience temperature variations, the work environment is predominantly indoors and not subject to extreme conditions.
