Transportation Manager

**Job Summary**
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Logistics Coordinator to join our team at Wastequip. As a key member of our logistics department, you will be responsible for negotiating rates and securing shipment coverage with approved carriers or brokers, resulting in cost savings and efficient transportation for flatbed, stepdeck, and driveaway services.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Negotiate rates and secure shipment coverage with approved carriers or brokers to achieve cost savings and efficient transportation.
- Identify and onboard new carriers and brokers that meet Wastequip's service provider requirements.
- Order entry of inbound shipments from suppliers, intercompany shipments, and returns.
- Add and remove shipments to and from load boards.
- Provide shipping information and documents, including rate confirmations and bills of lading, to carriers, suppliers, customers, and Wastequip employees.
- Obtain and record authority and proof of insurance for carriers and brokers as needed.
- Negotiate and approve additional transportation costs, such as truck ordered not used fees and detention charges.
- Interact and communicate daily with plant staff to ensure all Wastequip shipments are picked up and delivered on time.
- Aid in the development of continuous improvement processes for the logistics department.
- Meet KPI target numbers for transportation savings and on-time service.
- Work one specific Saturday every other month (6 per year).
**Requirements:**
- Four-year college degree or equivalent experience.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic team player who excels in a fast-paced environment.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in Transportation Planning/Freight Brokerage, preferably with experience sourcing flatbed/stepdecks.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Experience developing and maintaining an excellent rapport with carriers and drivers.
- Experience with driveaway services preferred, though not expected.
- Excellent, timely, and effective communication skills through various means.
- Strong customer service orientation and excellent work ethic.
- Ability to quickly process information and make decisions.
- Effective negotiation and problem-solving skills, and ability to handle conflict.
- Excellent time-management skills with the ability to multitask.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
