JOB SUMMARY

This position is integral to Operations, focusing on overseeing and managing the processes associated with delivery services. Key responsibilities encompass providing collaborative leadership to delivery supervisory personnel, offering specific guidance to drivers, ensuring efficient routing, prioritizing safety, and maintaining compliance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees the daily operations and safety of delivery personnel, ensuring adherence to established procedures, planned routes, and delivering safe and efficient customer service.
  • Evaluates real-time and historical data to guarantee accuracy in maintaining optimal delivery schedules and ensuring timely customer service.
  • Manages labor hours and directs workforce activities to remain within budgetary constraints.
  • Proposes work schedules including adjustments to stops, classifications, customer hours, and expectations, forwarding necessary changes to the appropriate personnel.
  • Supervises the effective selection and utilization of company resources to support the delivery department.
  • Coordinates necessary repairs with relevant departments as required.
  • Reviews delivery productivity reports and communicates findings to the appropriate supervisory personnel for assessment and action.
  • Suggests operational efficiency improvements, cost-saving measures, and assists in implementing delivery modifications.
  • Interprets, trains, and consistently applies company policies, protocols, and procedures, including but not limited to food safety, transportation regulations, record-keeping, performance expectations, and safe operational methods.
  • Maintains proactive communication with Sales Management and Marketing teams to collaboratively address any customer or delivery challenges.
  • Engages with drivers to ensure successful adherence to daily delivery schedules and departmental performance objectives.
  • Collaborates with Transportation Supervisors and Safety Trainers to ensure consistent training, conduct associate observations, update preferred work methods, perform timely accident investigations, and carry out routine safety inspections. Recommends disciplinary actions or behavior modifications based on performance data reviews.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in keyboarding and utilizes reporting tools effectively.
  • Creates specific ad hoc reports to identify areas for operational enhancements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Preferred: Two or four-year college degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE

  • One to three years of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Capable of collaborating with peers and associates across various departments in a proactive and constructive manner.

  • Ability to interpret diverse instructions presented in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule formats.
  • Working knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Ability to apply relevant policies consistently, timely, and objectively.
  • Ability to operate in a disciplined manner, adhering to established procedures and complying with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Ability to manage stress and pressures associated with a deadline-driven environment and customer service challenges.
  • Demonstrates the ability to make independent decisions that align with company policies and procedures in a timely manner.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to compose reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software, with the ability to learn Sysco-specific technology and programs.
  • Must possess excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, write, and speak English proficiently.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical operations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS

  • Completion of a Sysco-approved defensive driving program.
  • HazMat certification preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone.
  • Frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
