Position Overview:

Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) is responsible for the management and operation of the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) under the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field evaluations of facilities to ensure compliance with air quality, wastewater, drinking water, solid waste, chemical reporting, and other environmental regulations and permits.
  • Review planning and activity-level documents to ensure environmental considerations are incorporated.
  • Represent Environmental Compliance in Integrated Project Team meetings and other collaborative sessions.
  • Evaluate projects and activities for adherence to established procedures and plans.
  • Identify deficiencies and track them to resolution and closure.
  • Gather information, review analytical reports, and perform necessary calculations for permit reports and other deliverables.
  • Develop and update company documentation related to environmental protection initiatives.
  • Engage with operational personnel and regulatory authorities.
  • Analyze data for compliance with established environmental limits.
  • Prepare both routine and non-routine reports.
  • Respond to environmental incidents such as spills and releases of regulated substances, preparing necessary reports.
  • Collect and analyze environmental data from various company sources.
  • Collaborate on environmental programs with senior staff, focusing on areas such as water quality and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), among others as assigned by the Environmental Compliance manager.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a calculus-based STEM field, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. Experience should demonstrate either deeper technical specialization or additional cross-disciplinary knowledge. Graduate research experience may be acknowledged.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and potentially hazardous environments.
  • Capacity to exercise judgment and follow both oral and written instructions to complete assigned tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills to ensure timely completion of all assignments.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding scientific and technical documents and regulations.
  • Ability to write permit and regulatory reports based on scientific data and field information.
  • The primary work location will be at the Nevada National Security Site.
  • Work schedule will be 4/10s Monday through Thursday (subject to change).
  • Pre-employment physical examination, including a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

Applicants offered employment will also undergo a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information, if necessary for the position. Adherence to substance abuse policies and a clean background are essential for maintaining eligibility for the role.

Compensation:

The annual salary range for this position is $79,000 to $119,100.80. Starting salary is determined based on market value, individual education and experience, and internal equity.
