Position Overview:

Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) is responsible for the management and operation of the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) under the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Our core MISSION is to safeguard the security of the United States and its allies by delivering high-risk experimentation and incident response capabilities through a variety of services including operations, engineering, education, and integration, while also acting as responsible environmental stewards for the legacy of the Cold War. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Construction Department during construction activities for Issue for Construction (IFC) design packages related to infrastructure projects.
  • Engage in site evaluations, create sketches, assist in developing conceptual designs, assess existing systems, and generate or review functional requirement documents.
  • Ensure that designs are thoroughly reviewed, executed, installed, tested, and documented in accordance with the latest construction documents.
  • Review engineering documents for constructibility during various design review phases including 30%, 60%, 90%, and IFC.
  • Verify and report on construction installation quantities.
  • Collaborate with Project Engineering to address Requests for Information (RFIs), Field Change Requests (FCRs), and necessary design modifications.
  • Produce redline drawings for integration into as-built documentation.
  • Prepare, review, and approve material requisitions.
  • Assist in interpreting drawings and specifications for field teams and craft supervision.
  • May act as an internal Subject Matter Expert in a specific engineering discipline.
  • Contribute to the development of solutions for construction-related challenges.
  • Assist in formulating work plans and work packages.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:
    A Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) is required for Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical engineering degrees, or a Calculus-based STEM bachelor’s degree in engineering, or for Architects, certification from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB), or a Professional Engineer license.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience is required, demonstrating either deeper technical specialization or additional cross-disciplinary knowledge; graduate research experience may be acknowledged.
  • Ability to interpret codes and standards relevant to the engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute work in a disciplined manner, ensuring compliance with laws, codes, orders, and MSTS policies and procedures.
  • Experience working collaboratively within a team of professional and technical personnel.
  • Proven experience in analyzing complex technical issues and developing systematic solutions.
  • Experience with as-built analysis and modifications of older facilities is advantageous.
  • A PE license is preferred but not mandatory.
  • The primary work location will be at the Nevada National Security Site.
  • Work schedule will be 4/10s, Monday through Thursday.
  • Must be available for occasional overtime as required by project timelines.
  • A pre-placement physical examination, including a drug screening, is mandatory. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Security Clearance:
MSTS is obligated to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review, which includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Candidates offered employment with MSTS must also undergo a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information, if the position necessitates a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct, or other indicators of untrustworthiness may result in clearance denial or termination.

Salary Information:
The annual salary range for this position is approximately $97,000 to $145,516.80. Starting salary is determined based on market value, individual candidate education and experience, and internal equity.
