Responsibilities:

The team member will be expected to leverage their knowledge and experience to ensure that policy decisions, procedures, and operations comply with MSTS and Department of Energy (DOE) regulations, as well as federal and state laws. The team member must also demonstrate independent judgment, creativity, and initiative in evaluating alternative problem-solving methods for leadership consideration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, coordinate, and assist in the implementation of site, facility, and project-specific security plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Support the establishment of Security Areas.
  • Collaborate with Technical Analysts in the creation and revision of Security Analyses.
  • Take primary responsibility or assist in a secondary role to provide facility security representative services, including Foreign Ownership, Control and Influence, Facility Clearance Level, and Lock and Key Control Officer duties.
  • Represent the Security Planning & Operations Section in meetings and consultations with customer representatives, governmental security agencies, and industry partners.
  • Accept individual responsibility and accountability, complying with established regulations and procedures for environment, safety, health, and quality, while performing duties safely.
  • Promptly address or report any hazards or potential hazards to supervision.
  • Assist in developing security documentation in accordance with DOE Order requirements, including the Site Security Plan and security incident response plans.
  • Contribute to the development of security strategies for Strategic Partnership Programs and emergency response plans that address new requirements and correct identified vulnerabilities.
  • Interface with NNSS contractor security personnel to support joint ventures with stakeholders in developing protection strategies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent training and experience, along with a minimum of 5 years of progressive related experience.
  • Must possess a Q-clearance.
  • Able to work independently on Safeguards and Security program objectives and strategies.
  • Capable of developing and maintaining relationships with all levels of employees, customers, and various agencies.
  • Able to prioritize and schedule multiple activities efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in ensuring compliance with DOE and MSTS regulations.
  • Possess planning and organizing skills, employing independent judgment to ensure timely completion of requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively interface with management and security personnel.
  • Able to understand complex data, terminology, procedures, laws, and regulations.
  • Utilize independent judgment and creativity to evaluate alternative problem-solving methods.
  • The primary work location will be at the Nevada National Security Site.
  • Work schedule will typically be 4/10s Monday through Thursday.
  • Pre-employment physical examination, including a drug screen, is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review, including checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information.

Department of Energy Q Clearance: The position will require clearance to this level, including reviews and tests for the absence of illegal drugs. The selected applicant will undergo a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter.

Annual Salary Range: $77,000 - $115,502.40.

Starting salary is determined based on market value, individual candidate education and experience, and internal equity.
