Job Summary

The University of Rochester seeks a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Director of Events and Volunteer Engagement to join our team. This is a full-time position that requires a strong background in event planning, volunteer management, and fundraising.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive event strategy in consultation with the Unit Officers and other stakeholders.
  • Manage all aspects of prospect events, including budgeting, venue selection, and vendor management.
  • Oversee the production of event materials, including publications and marketing collateral.
  • Develop and manage event data and provide regular reporting to event organizers and leadership.
  • Manage volunteer councils and committees, including strategy, communication, and engagement.
  • Coordinate with University leaders and their teams to manage event logistics and correspondence.
  • Travel and staff national council meetings and other top-level committees and events as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Five years or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various constituent groups, colleagues, volunteers, and campus partners
  • Demonstrated ability to work with, motivate, and lead volunteers
  • Ability to gather, condense, and synthesize information and provide accurate analysis and summaries
  • Excellent organization, project management, and proofreading skills
  • Occasional travel; some evening and weekend work
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree
  • Experience in event planning, volunteer management, and fundraising
  • Knowledge of OASIS database and experience with event management software
