Position Title: Service Superintendent
Role Overview: The Service Superintendent oversees daily operations at the job site, ensuring effective management of the short-term schedule. This role is pivotal in maintaining quality control and coordinating subcontractor activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather and review all relevant project details from the Project Manager.
- Familiarize yourself with project plans, specifications, local regulations, and inspection protocols.
- Organize the necessary workforce for each project and collaborate with Human Resources for staffing needs.
- Participate in preconstruction meetings to align project goals.
- Guide project activities, including setup, execution, and demobilization phases.
- Monitor field staff performance in conjunction with department heads and Human Resources.
- Conduct site orientation training for new staff.
- Evaluate and approve certifications and training for specialized craft roles.
- Analyze weekly labor reports to identify and address any issues.
- Establish a field office and manage communications and temporary services as required.
- Assist in developing project schedules alongside the Project Manager.
- Procure necessary supplies and equipment for project execution.
- Coordinate schedules for employees, subcontractors, and deliveries to maintain project timelines.
- Ensure quality control for both self-performed work and subcontractor activities.
- Schedule and oversee all required inspections.
- Complete and submit all necessary documentation.
- Set benchmarks and reference points for ongoing project layout.
- Collaborate with job site representatives and subcontractors to resolve conflicts promptly.
- Work with the Safety Director to implement and enforce safety policies on site.
- Support safety audits conducted by the Safety Director.
- Coordinate with equipment providers for necessary project machinery.
- Attend project meetings to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Conduct walkthroughs upon project completion.
- Account for all tools and equipment used on the job site.
- Facilitate weekly safety meetings in collaboration with the Safety Director.
- Collect and review weekly timecards from field staff.
- Oversee the closure of the field office and project as needed.
- Engage in departmental meetings as required.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned while maintaining a collaborative approach.
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience in construction supervision.
- Minimum of 5 years working in a unionized environment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Completion of the State Union Apprenticeship program.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and construction plans.
- Comprehensive understanding of plumbing and medical gas construction systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Capability to manage confidential information effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
