Job Summary

The State of Wisconsin, Department of Military Affairs, is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team at Truax Air Base in Madison. This is a project-based position with a duration of up to 4 years, with the possibility of extension or conversion to a permanent position.

Job Description

As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will work under the general supervision of the Building and Grounds Supervisor to maintain and repair concrete and asphalt on all aircraft pavements, roads, parking lots, and sidewalks. You will operate specialized heavy equipment, including skid steers, front-end loaders, backhoes, rollers, Oshkosh runway brooms, and dump trucks, to perform duties such as trenching, grading, runway cleaning, pavement repair, and snow removal.

Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment to maintain and repair infrastructure
  • Perform construction projects, including trenching, grading, and excavation
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of equipment
  • Work safely and efficiently to meet project deadlines
Requirements
  • Valid driver's license and commercial driver's license (CDL) required
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with heavy equipment operation and maintenance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a military driver's license
