POSITION SUMMARY FOR SEX OFFENDER CLINICIAN

The Sex Offender Clinician plays a crucial role in providing treatment to individuals classified for sex offender rehabilitation within correctional facilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE SEX OFFENDER CLINICIAN

  • Conducts group therapy sessions and develops individualized treatment plans for clients.
  • Performs Sexual Risk Assessment Interviews and prepares Sexual Risk and Needs Assessments.
  • Completes Discharge Summaries reflecting clients' treatment progress.
  • Assists in the planning and execution of program goals and objectives.
  • Maintains accurate documentation, treatment notes, and reports as required.
  • Utilizes clinical language in documentation and assessments.
  • Participates in required training and meetings, working towards credentialing with the Delaware Sex Offender Management Board.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR SEX OFFENDER CLINICIAN

  • A master's degree in psychology, social work, or counseling is required.
  • Licensure or active pursuit of licensure is preferred; note that a LMSW is not considered a clinical license.
  • Must complete licensure testing within six months of fulfilling the necessary supervised hours and actively pursue credentialing with the Delaware Sex Offender Management Board.
  • Willingness to travel to various locations as needed.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE FOR SEX OFFENDER CLINICIAN

  • Experience in providing clinical therapy to individuals with a history of sexual offending or those who have experienced sexual harm.
  • Familiarity with Sexual Risk Assessment Tools such as Static99r, STABLE-2007, and ISORA.
  • Experience in implementing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in a clinical setting.

If preferred experience is lacking, candidates must possess a license and training in trauma-informed care, along with relevant experience working with forensic populations.
