Montefiore Medical Center is in search of a Clinical Laboratory Technician to join our esteemed team.

Position Overview

The Division of Clinical Pathology at Montefiore is dedicated to conducting laboratory analyses of blood, urine, and other bodily fluids to assist in diagnosing diseases and promoting health. Our state-of-the-art facilities utilize advanced automated equipment and cutting-edge technology to provide services across numerous healthcare settings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct routine and urgent tests on blood, serum, spinal fluid, and other bodily fluids using both automated and manual methods.
  • Ensure the timely monitoring of specimens and completion of tests.
  • Review and validate data prior to dissemination.
  • Report critical and abnormal test results promptly.
  • Maintain quality control records for all tests performed and address any QC issues as per laboratory protocols.
  • Prepare necessary reagents and manage inventory, notifying supervisors as needed.
  • Document all work performed and maintain equipment maintenance logs.
  • Assist with telephonic inquiries and perform order entries in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
  • May oversee the work of a laboratory unit and provide guidance to fellow technicians.
  • Support the training of new staff members.
  • Ensure a clean and safe work environment in accordance with infection control standards.
  • Perform additional laboratory tasks as directed by supervisory personnel.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a physical science; medical technology is preferred.
  • Possession of a New York State Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or a limited permit is required.
  • Familiarity with laboratory and hospital information systems, as well as various automated laboratory equipment, is essential.

This position is based in the Rapid Response Lab. The typical working hours are during the day.
