Position OverviewThe Clinical Laboratory Technician plays a vital role in the Division of Clinical Pathology, responsible for conducting laboratory tests on blood, urine, and other bodily fluids to aid in disease diagnosis and health monitoring. Our state-of-the-art facilities are equipped with advanced automated systems and support a wide range of healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct routine and emergency laboratory tests on various specimens using both automated and manual techniques.
- Ensure the accuracy of test results by reviewing data prior to release.
- Report any abnormal or critical values promptly.
- Maintain quality control standards and document any discrepancies as per laboratory protocols.
- Prepare necessary reagents and manage inventory effectively.
- Keep detailed records of all laboratory activities and equipment maintenance.
- Assist in training new staff members and may oversee the work of other technicians.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with infection control guidelines.
- Perform additional laboratory tasks as directed by supervisory staff.
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant physical science or medical technology is required.
- Possession of a valid Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or a limited permit from the New York State Department of Education is essential.
- Experience with laboratory information systems and various laboratory equipment is preferred.
