The Division of Clinical Pathology at Montefiore is dedicated to the laboratory analysis of blood, urine, and other bodily fluids for the purposes of diagnosing diseases and maintaining health. Our facilities are equipped with cutting-edge automated technology, serving a wide range of healthcare settings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct routine and emergency laboratory tests on various specimens, including blood and other fluids, utilizing both automated and manual methods.

• Ensure the accuracy of test results by reviewing data prior to release.

• Report critical and abnormal values promptly.

• Maintain quality control records and address any discrepancies as per laboratory protocols.

• Prepare necessary reagents and manage inventory effectively.

• Keep comprehensive records of all laboratory activities and maintain equipment logs.

• Assist with incoming calls and perform order entry in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) as needed.

• May oversee the work of other laboratory technicians and provide training to new staff members.

• Uphold cleanliness and safety standards in accordance with Infection Control guidelines.

• Undertake additional laboratory tasks as directed by supervisory personnel.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant physical science; medical technology is preferred.

• Possession of a valid Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or a limited permit from the New York State Department of Education is mandatory. A provisional permit must be obtained within the initial probationary period to continue employment.

• Proficiency in laboratory and hospital information systems, as well as familiarity with various automated laboratory equipment, is essential.

This position is based in the Chemistry Lab and requires availability for night shifts, including alternate weekends.
