Job Title: Assistant Chemical Lab Manager

Avtec Finishing is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Chemical Lab Manager to join our team in New Hope, MN. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for supporting the Chemical Lab Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Chemical Lab, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and optimizing lab processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Chemical Lab Manager in managing lab personnel, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and optimizing lab processes.
  • Review and maintain written procedures for all chemical activities and analysis.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support lab personnel, providing training and guidance to ensure high performance and adherence to lab procedures.
  • Ensure the lab operates in compliance with all safety regulations, environmental guidelines, and industry standards.
  • Monitor and maintain the quality of laboratory processes and results, developing and implementing quality control procedures and performing regular audits.
  • Manage and control waste treatment equipment/operations to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain records for employees in the department, including performance evaluations, disciplinary notes, and other relevant information.
  • Implement continuous improvement activities, such as new chemical equipment, test instruments, and processes, to enhance quality and optimize throughput.
  • Research new products offered by chemical suppliers.
  • Develop, maintain, and adjust job routings as requested.
  • Prepare discharge reports, manifests, and other reports as assigned for upper management staff.
  • Exercise good housekeeping practices, keeping work areas, lab equipment, floors, countertops, and cabinets clean and organized.
  • Work with production managers, supervisors, and line operators to troubleshoot production issues.
  • Responsible for lowering waste and maximizing plating chemistry efficiencies.
Requirements:
  • 4 years of college with a chemistry background preferred.
  • 5 years of industry experience, preferably in-house.
  • CEF or Plating Essentials course preferred.
  • Hazardous waste training preferred.
  • Hazwoper training and forklift license.
  • Ability to maintain a regular and reliable attendance record.
  • Fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must be a US citizen or have authorization to work in the US.
  • Must be able to read a ruler/tape measure and analog clock.
  • Leadership skills to direct employees toward production goals, motivate, influence, and train.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be familiar with the methods of production used in the department, including machinery/equipment/instruments.
  • Experience in establishing department objectives/goals, enhancing production, and accomplishing intended results.
  • Detail-oriented to monitor ongoing activities in the organization.
  • Outstanding customer service skills and the ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.
  • Possess excellent decision-making and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with plating specs and company spec library.
  • Working knowledge of our plating process characteristics and limitations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Elevated math skills required.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Compensation:

Yearly Salary: $65,500 + / Year Salary DOQ.
