Position Overview:
Vaco is seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer to enhance operational efficiency. This role is based on-site and focuses on the application of industrial engineering principles.

Objective:
Utilize industrial engineering techniques to create and implement systems that optimize the integration of personnel, machinery, materials, information, and energy. The primary aim is to reduce waste throughout production while maintaining quality and safety standards across all manufacturing sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership in Process Enhancement:
    • Drive initiatives aimed at cost reduction and process enhancement using Lean methodologies.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting:
    • Perform statistical evaluations to assess the effectiveness of current processes, equipment, and workforce performance.
  • Design of Production Flow:
    • Create and implement efficient production layouts, including:
      • Arrangement of machines and work cells
      • Material flow and presentation
      • In-process quality assurance techniques
  • Commitment to Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay informed on industry advancements and incorporate continuous improvement strategies across all manufacturing operations.
  • Work Measurement & Analysis:
    • Establish work measurement programs and analyze data to enhance efficiency.
  • Innovation & Execution:
    • Research and implement innovative ideas, materials, and processes for both new and existing products.
  • Development of Labor Standards:
    • Create and implement labor standards for accurate cost assessment and staffing.
  • Performance Metrics Management:
    • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and enhance production efficiency.
  • Production Control System Design:
    • Design systems to coordinate production planning, ensuring adherence to quality, delivery, and safety standards.
  • Integration of Quality Assurance:
    • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to embed quality control processes, addressing production challenges while minimizing costs.
  • Analysis of System Interactions:
    • Leverage knowledge of system interactions to anticipate and manage the effects of operational changes on overall performance.
Qualifications:
  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.
    • At least 5 years of relevant experience in industrial engineering.
  • Certifications:
    • Lean Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt required; Black Belt preferred).
  • Expertise in Lean Manufacturing:
    • In-depth knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles with practical implementation experience.
  • Communication Proficiency:
    • Ability to effectively convey and demonstrate Lean concepts across all organizational levels.
  • Technical Competence:
    • Experience with manufacturing processes such as sheet metal fabrication, machining, and light assembly.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish is advantageous.
  • Additional Qualifications:
    • Experience with safety-related products is beneficial.
    • Willingness to travel internationally for customer and supplier visits.
  • Work Environment:
    • Regular exposure to production elements, including noise, moving machinery, dust, and fumes.
