About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician Lead to join our team at Ventura Foods. As a key member of our maintenance department, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal operating condition of our equipment and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform corrective maintenance and emergency repairs on food packaging/processing equipment and facility equipment to maximize uptime.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Complete assigned scheduled preventative maintenance and work orders to increase asset life and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports documenting activities and work performed.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve advanced equipment mechanical/electrical issues within specialized skill sets.
  • Training and Development: Train other maintenance mechanics in troubleshooting advanced equipment problems using specialized skill sets and effectively document training activities.
  • Clean In Place (CIP) Processes: Responsible for all CIP processes and ensure accurate and complete documentation.
  • Food Safety: Responsible for following all food safety policies, procedures, and regulatory criteria, including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated preventive controls.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 5-10 years of experience in advanced mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills and/or specialized training.
  • Preferred Experience: Experience in a food manufacturing environment.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Craftsmanship: Craftsman knowledgeable use of hand/power tools, various shop equipment, and able to use general measuring tools such as multi-meters, tape measures, calipers, and dial indicators.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in computer use and Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel.
  • Leadership and Communication: Possess outstanding leadership, organizational, communication, and people skills and able to work under minimal supervision.
  • Specialized Skills: Able to understand and assist in troubleshooting of complex packaging and processing machinery and facility equipment using specialized skill sets within trained expertise.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Physical strength and dexterity sufficient to perform the required task(s). Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance. Additional demands may be required.

In addition to normal business hours, work schedules may include after hours and weekends as needed. May work outside and in adverse temperatures which include extreme hot, cold, and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by established Company Safety standards. May require work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet for prolonged periods of time.
