About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Maintenance Specialist to join our Plant Maintenance Division at American Cast Iron Pipe Company (ACIPCO) in Birmingham, AL.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform Advanced Electrical Maintenance: Conduct critical electrical maintenance and construction work throughout our plant, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our equipment.
  • Read and Interpret Electrical Schematics: Accurately read and interpret complex electrical schematics and blueprints, identifying errors and inconsistencies.
  • Operate Electrical Equipment: Safely operate electrical equipment, including burning/welding torches, electric arc welders, and brazing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot Electrical Issues: Determine sources of electrical trouble and correct them, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal equipment performance.
  • Install and Maintain Electrical Systems: Bends and installs conduit, fittings, enclosures, switches, disconnects, and other electrical components, following national and local codes.
  • Document Procedures and Calibrations: Accurately document procedures and calibrations performed on instrumentation and equipment, meeting current ISO requirements.
  • Provide Training and Instruction: Train and instruct Apprentice(s) and other wage jobs in their work area/department, as instructed by supervision.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Experience: At least 2 years of electrical experience in a heavy industrial environment or completion of a trainee or certification program with no years of experience.
  2. Physical Ability: Physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  3. Visual and Auditory Requirements: Meet physical requirements for safe operation of mobile equipment and have acceptable levels of vision and hearing to identify and respond to visual and audible warnings.
  4. Driver's License: Possess a valid state-issued driver's license.
