Position Overview
This role is situated within Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), specifically in the Transmission Grid Modeling (TPMG) sector. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in the upkeep of BPA's System Electrical Data (SED).

Key Responsibilities
As an Electrical Engineer, your duties will include:

  • Calculating transmission line impedance parameters, including resistance, reactance, susceptance, and conductance.
  • Determining parameters for shunt capacitors, shunt reactors, series capacitors, and series reactors.
  • Calculating transformer impedances and identifying database inputs for SED uploads.
  • Collaborating with Grid Modelers to ensure the precision of parameters utilized in power flow base cases.
  • Creating, updating, and managing content on the SED SharePoint site, including documents, diagrams, and reports.
  • Providing insights and suggestions for the enhancement of BPA SED software tools, including proposing revisions and new tools.

Employment Conditions
This position is a temporary promotion, not exceeding one year, with the possibility of extension up to five years. Upon the conclusion of the promotion, the individual will revert to their original position or a comparable role.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must be U.S. citizens and comply with Selective Service registration requirements. This position mandates physical presence at the designated worksite for a minimum of three days per pay period.

Qualifications
To qualify, candidates must possess:

  • A degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service, specifically in advanced electrical engineering studies related to power transmission, distribution, or generation systems.

Work Environment
The role is primarily office-based, requiring occasional travel. The work environment is typically well-lit and climate-controlled.
