Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary applicant screener and representative for the Ashland Emergency Fund.
- Coordinate with the Ashland Food Pantry to ensure seamless patron services.
- Guide residents through the application process for SNAP/EBT benefits.
- Assist residents in applying for Fuel Assistance.
- Support the implementation of the Holiday Assistance Program and Thanksgiving Meal Program.
- Contribute to Ashland's Hoarding Task Force and Substance Response and Support Team.
- Document interactions with patrons in the MySeniorCenter database.
- Manage the social media presence for Prevention & Human Services as assigned.
- Propose innovative solutions to address unmet community needs.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives led by the department.
- Collaborate with Community Center staff to provide resources to patrons.
- Work in partnership with other town departments as necessary.
- Foster an LGBTQ+ affirming, multi-cultural, anti-racist, and anti-discrimination environment.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related Human Services field; a Master's Degree in Social Work is preferred. Candidates should have 1-3 years of relevant experience in a human services agency.
Applicants should demonstrate a foundational understanding of the challenges faced by individuals and families experiencing poverty or mental health issues. They must exhibit compassion and empathy, maintain confidentiality, and possess effective assessment skills for intakes and referrals. Strong interpersonal skills, along with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, are essential. Proficiency in computer skills and database management is required. Bilingual candidates fluent in Spanish or Portuguese are encouraged to apply.
