POSITION OVERVIEW AND REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State is seeking a Livestock Education Specialist in Mercer County, Pennsylvania. Since its inception, Penn State Extension has been dedicated to delivering impartial, research-driven information and education tailored to the needs of local communities and industry stakeholders. Programs are crafted based on feedback from the community and industry, utilizing up-to-date information from Penn State and other academic institutions.

Role Expectations:
  • Act as a recognized member of the Penn State Extension Livestock team at a national level.
  • Design, execute, and assess educational initiatives for livestock producers and industry professionals.
  • Offer education and technical support for livestock producers in various domains including business management, marketing, health, and genetics.
  • Facilitate Extension education programs employing a variety of methodologies.

Qualifications and Experience:

This role requires an Intermediate or Advanced Professional with a Master's degree and relevant experience. Additional qualifications include effective teamwork, proficiency in relevant software, a valid driver's license, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.

  • Ability to work flexible hours and communicate effectively with diverse populations.
  • Experience in livestock production, particularly in beef or small ruminants, is preferred.
