Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Revenue Cycle Coding Supervisor to join our team at the University of Michigan. As a key member of our revenue cycle team, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of inpatient coders, ensuring accurate and timely coding and billing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of inpatient coders, providing guidance and support to ensure accurate and timely coding and billing processes.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and systems for proper coding and reporting, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and payer-specific regulations.
  • Collaborate with Registration, Care Management, Revenue Cycle, HITS, and MiChart teams to resolve technical and process issues related to MiChart and Computer Assisted Coding installation & upgrades.
  • Provide leadership for process improvement and redesign to improve customer satisfaction, reduce costs, and/or meet departmental and institutional goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with colleagues and staff within the department and organization to promote mutual understanding and respect.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in Health Information Management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Registered Health Information Technologist or Administrator (RHIT/RHIA) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
  • Current membership in the AHIMA is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of inpatient coding experience within a large, fast-paced, and complex health care organization.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated customer focus and the knowledge and skill to identify, meet, and evaluate customer expectations.
  • Three years of supervisory or administrative experience in a healthcare or hospital setting or comparable combination of educational preparation and experience in managing health information and providing effective leadership.
