Job SummaryWe are looking for individuals who possess a strong background in accounting, auditing, and tax law, with excellent analytical and communication skills. As an Internal Revenue Agent, you will be responsible for conducting independent examinations and related investigations of complex income tax returns filed by individuals or business/organizational entities. You will also be required to research and apply the Internal Revenue Code and regulations, revenue rulings, and court decisions to determine the correct tax liability.

- Examine and analyze accounting systems and records, including computerized accounting and financial information systems.
- Gather and research data from a variety of sources, including specialized accounting systems and practices unique to specific trades or industries.
- Communicate and deal effectively with others, including taxpayers, tax professionals, and other government officials.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National and provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- Must have a bachelor's or higher degree in accounting or a related field, or a combination of education and experience equivalent to 4 years that included at least 30 semester hours in accounting or 24 semester hours in accounting and 6 semester hours in related subjects.
- Must have 1 year of Specialized Experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service, or meet the education requirements listed above.
This is a full-time position that requires a 40-hour workweek. You will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines. You may be required to travel to various locations to conduct examinations and investigations.
