Position Title: Operations Technical Coordinator

Reporting to: Director of Operations and Engineering

Core Objective:

Kinovate Life Sciences (KLS) stands as a premier manufacturer and supplier of solid supports for oligonucleotide synthesis. The individual in this role will encompass a diverse array of responsibilities and expertise aimed at ensuring the seamless and effective functioning of various technical systems and production processes. The Operations Technical Coordinator will deliver technical assistance to both internal and external stakeholders concerning manufacturing processes. This role will advocate for Operational Excellence initiatives and serve as a conduit between the Production Department and QA/QC, Supply Chain, Process Development, Facilities, and Engineering departments. Additionally, this position will guarantee that all production processes are documented and executed precisely in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The ideal candidate should possess a background in chemistry or biology, coupled with 5-7 years of experience leading small teams in a GMP/ISO manufacturing setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops, implements, and enhances Continuous Improvement initiatives while measuring their effectiveness.
  • Ensures strict adherence to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) guidelines.
  • Leads projects involving cross-functional teams, implementing actions, and evaluating the efficacy of results.
  • Establishes, implements, monitors, and improves Key Performance Indicators aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Analyzes current practices, devises manufacturing process enhancements, and implements changes in workflows, structures, and teams to ensure ongoing performance improvement.
  • Contributes to Process Development and Engineering projects and oversees the transition into manufacturing processes.
  • Assesses new technologies and evaluates their potential to enhance manufacturing processes.
  • Investigates and identifies root causes, implementing corrective and preventive measures for Quality and EHS incidents.
  • Ensures production activities are conducted in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains good manufacturing and documentation practices, reviewing for accuracy and completeness within established timelines.
  • Ensures production equipment is maintained and complies with preventative maintenance programs and calibration standards.
  • Monitors the operational functionality of production equipment, troubleshooting and reporting any deviations or failures to the Production Manager.
  • Provides training and coaching to KLS personnel.
  • Collaborates with the QA team to implement quality policies and objectives, drafting production-related procedures as necessary.
  • Demonstrates strong writing skills for SOPs, batch records, and document revisions.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Communicates clearly and acts as the liaison between the Production department and other departments.
  • Performs additional tasks as required by the business.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to make decisive actions.
  • Familiarity with production equipment such as reactors, agitation systems, vacuum pumps, and vacuum ovens.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work independently, manage shifting priorities, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, oral presentation, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Physical Job Requirements:

This role is set in an office/lab environment. Lifting up to 50 pounds may be necessary. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use their hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone keypad or to write, as well as talk and hear. They must be able to stand, walk, or sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
