LSF is seeking a dedicated Residential Counselor II who is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of individuals and families.

Purpose and Impact:

Deliver comprehensive assessments and provide individual, family, and group counseling services to clients within a residential environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct individual crisis intervention sessions.
  • Perform intake evaluations, psychosocial assessments, and suicide risk evaluations.
  • Facilitate family orientations, assessments, counseling, and reunification processes.
  • Offer aftercare counseling services to former residents and their families.
  • Provide rotating on-call support as required.
  • Lead group counseling sessions and social skills development activities.
  • Manage cases, provide crisis intervention, and handle referral inquiries, evaluations, and recommendations.
  • Complete necessary administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Set goals and objectives for individual and group programs.
  • Deliver in-home crisis counseling for family mediation when necessary.
  • Advocate for clients with community organizations, legal entities, educational institutions, and other relevant agencies.
  • Engage in community outreach initiatives.
  • Provide house coverage during emergencies as needed.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Participate in and contribute to staff training and professional development.
  • Supervise Youth Care Staff and provide emergency house coverage when necessary.
  • Act as an Educational Liaison.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Manager or Supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to drive, use a phone, sit for extended periods, write case notes, and manage filing tasks.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master's degree in human services or a related field.
  • Other qualifications as required by funding sources.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of two years of experience in adolescent and family counseling, facilitating group sessions, and conducting intake and psychosocial assessments. Experience working with at-risk youth and their families is essential.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong organizational skills, effective collaboration with others, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to teamwork.

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Must demonstrate cultural sensitivity and awareness of the socioeconomic characteristics and needs of the service population.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Reports directly to the Clinical Director.
  • Collaborates effectively with colleagues and management.
  • Ensures accurate, complete, and timely documentation of client cases.
  • Submits required statistical reports accurately and on time.
  • Adheres to all licensing and quality assurance standards.
  • Serves as a clinical liaison to various stakeholders including DJJ, courts, schools, and community providers.
  • Complies with agency policies and procedures.
  • Attends all mandatory training sessions.
